Got a little crafty in between finals and made these bad boys. Super simple DIY I found online a couple weeks ago. Used 3 mason jars(the DIY I found originally used pickle jars), 3 plastic toy animals, krazy glue and Krylon metallic gold spray paint. I’m pretty pleased with the results. :)

Excellent. Except please don’t use (and ruin) perfectly good mason jars which can be used over and over again to preserve food. Making beautiful things out of junk = good crafting. Making decorative objects out of useful practical things you find culturally redundant = bad crafting (in my opinion). The mason jar crafts have bothered me for a while as my mother and grandmother used them to preserve food and used the same set of jars for over 30 years. I can see why people use them for other things, but it gets to me that people don’t realise how incredibly useful and functional these are. To me it’s like seeing a perfectly good old push-bike (steel framed, single gear) chained outside a pub (rusting) as decor, or seeing books that have been cut up to make planters or whatever. Painting mason jar lids gold and sticking things on top of them doesn’t fully destroy the function, you are still using them as containers, but when filled with fruit or veg and boiled that food will keep for years and the jars can be re-used indefinitely. For this project you could use any old jam jar or pickle jar!
